A Fall Reprieve.

The sun came out this afternoon. It was one of those fall days that are an absolute blast to be outside in. The temperature was moderate, the ground was dry, no wind, and of course the sun was shinning. How perfect.

Vanessa came out to work in the garden after work. She raked leaves to put on the garden beds. She tried to convince me that I needed to help, but I was working on my own project. She tends to the chickens and is organizing an old, decrepit shed, for their winter home. The other day, I nailed up a couple of laying boxes and a perch, put a piece of glass from an old window in a hole in the wall, fixed the door latch, ran to the feed store for a bale of hay, and poof, instant chicken coop. We put the chickens in their new home this evening. Will keep you abreast on the "winter with chickens" in later posts.

It's dessert time. I'm forehead to forehead, nose to nose with Isabel, being convinced that I need to share a third bite of ice cream with her. Of course, this is after she has finished her entire bowl and is now hitting me up for mine. Giggling girl does win a few bites. But I make her work for them. An Eskimo kiss here, a teasing flyby spoonful, you know the drill. See a short video of her in the snow here dated March 9, 2006.
